Our Jam Sessions (the Who, Where, When)

We jam most Sundays at Out of Bounds Brewing Company in Rocklin, CA; starting at their opening time (normally: 12 noon).

Although we started as a small ukulele group, we have guitar, bass, percussion in the mix for many sessions.

We play a rather eclectic mix of tunes: we got both kinds - Country AND Western* ! But seriously, we play an old blue grass tune, some Johnny Cash, some country, lots of pop and rock from the 50s up to the present, a bit of punk and some reggae.

We've Beerly Begun

In the beginning there was a sign: "Ukulele lessons: $5 and $1 off each beer."; around June of 2015. This sign was on the door at the Dragas Brewery in Rocklin which opened in February 2015 and closed by February 2017 (5860 Pacific St. - now home to Moksa Brewing Company). By November of 2015 there were 2 regular "students", 1 teacher, and rare occasional additional takers. When Dragas closed, the group bounced among other breweries, occasionally our houses, eventually settling into the back room of Out Of Bounds Brewing Company (OBBC, the Rocklin location). Later, OBBC expanded their brewing operations, taking over the whole back room with tanks and equipment so we moved to the front reservable room, where we can have the house music turned off, close the glass doors and only be a mild annoyance. (We don't reserve the room and put up a sign inviting anyone in; once in a while we'll get bumped out by a paid reservation.)

Along the way, we've picked up some fairly regular additions, some on-and-off players, some rarely-in-town folks and some well-we-might-see-them-agains. A typical weekend will be 4-5 of us, sometimes a couple more and once in a while we get 10-12 when the stars beers align.

The group is no longer just ukuleles, we have several guitarists, a bassist, we add some percussion (cajón, cow bell, shakers, etc.)
